The Bag Spa: Why Every Bag is Cleaned, Conditioned and Polished Before It Ships
It Must Be Loved · The Standard
Every Bag Gets
a Spa Day
Cleaned. Conditioned. Polished.
Before it ever reaches you.
A note from Erin
When a vintage bag comes into my hands, the first thing it gets is a thorough spa treatment before it ever gets photographed, listed, or shipped.
This isn’t a quick wipe down. Every single bag I source goes through a professional cleaning, conditioning, and polishing process. No exceptions.
I trained under Yardley Uy, Founder and Owner of Edmonton Bag Spa, to ensure that what I offer meets a professional standard. Because you deserve a bag that’s been cared for properly, not just photographed to look good.
Here’s exactly what happens to every bag before it reaches you.

It Must Be Loved
The LOVED Standard
Every bag is cleaned, conditioned and polished before it is listed.
What you see in our photos is exactly what you receive. We don’t list bags before they’ve been through the full spa process. That is our promise to every buyer.
The Process
The Bag Spa Treatment
A step-by-step look at what every It Must Be Loved bag goes through before it reaches you.
Step One
Full Assessment
Before anything is applied to the bag, I do a complete inspection. This assessment determines exactly what the bag needs and what products are appropriate for its materials, age, and condition.
Every bag is assessed for:
- ✔ Canvas condition and integrity
- ✔ Vachetta and leather health
- ✔ Hardware oxidation and tarnish
- ✔ Interior lining condition
- ✔ Stitching and structural integrity
- ✔ Surface stains or discolouration
Step Two
Deep Clean
The canvas, leather, and hardware are cleaned using professional-grade products. This removes years of surface dirt, oils from handling, and environmental buildup that accumulates over time.
What gets cleaned:
- ✔ Monogram and Damier canvas wiped and treated
- ✔ Vachetta leather cleaned gently to preserve patina
- ✔ Hardware polished to restore shine
- ✔ Zippers and pulls cleaned and tested
- ✔ Interior vacuumed and wiped
Step Three
Condition & Polish
After cleaning, the leather is conditioned to restore suppleness and prevent future cracking. The canvas is treated and the entire bag is polished to bring back its natural lustre.
Conditioning covers:
- ✔ Vachetta conditioned to restore flexibility
- ✔ Leather handles and straps treated
- ✔ Canvas protected and polished
- ✔ Hardware buffed to a clean finish
- ✔ Final inspection before listing
Why This Matters
Vintage leather is living material. Without proper conditioning, it dries out, cracks, and deteriorates. A bag that has been stored for years without care can age decades in just a few months if it’s not treated correctly when it re-enters circulation.
Professional conditioning doesn’t just make a bag look better. It extends its life. It restores the flexibility of the leather so it won’t crack under use. It protects the canvas from further environmental damage. It keeps the bag in the best possible condition for the next person who loves it.
That’s why we don’t skip it. Ever.
The LOVED Promise
Buying vintage should feel exciting, not uncertain.
When you shop with us, you’re not just getting a bag. You’re getting one that has been professionally assessed, cleaned, conditioned, and polished by someone who genuinely cares about what she sells.
Vintage should last. And we make sure it will.
